Our Russian Home Away From Home



This is the Alekseyev Family: Ivan, Veronica, Vitaly, Artem, Zhanna & Leonid, our interpreter.


This is Zhanna & Ivan's home in Bryansk, Russia. They had spent the last seven years building it. The property was given to them by the government. It is a very fine home. They had only moved into the home three months before we arrived and as with all construction it wasn't finished yet.
Zhanna & Ivan have been married for 13 years.
They made us truly feel welcome in Russia and in their home.

Zhanna cooked for us while we were living with her family.
She was a wonderful cook and we ate basic Russian food...
lots of soup, bread and potatoes.


Okay all you farmers out there...how would you like to harvest
and dry the hay for your animals this way...
yes, that is hay being dried by spreading it on the road...
a very time-consuming effort but the families must be able to
feed their goats and rabbits for the winter.
