In the two years we worked in Bryansk we were able to bring $20,000 from our Kentucky Associations for the construction of the new Transfiguration Baptist Church. What wonderful memories we have of brick laying in the new church. The second year the work was centered on getting the roof on and that was something we couldn't help with much. The workers made about $4 a day and were fed lunch. And I want to tell you...those bricks are nothing like ours...they weigh a "ton". It will be a beautiful church.
This is the present church building.
The new church building is right next to the old. Besides the worship area there will be apartments, for people needing emergency shelter, and food storage which is already in use.
The ladies cook in the church kitchen every day for the workers.
